Knights Registration for Sant Joan Begins

Who’s Leading the Tour

Ignasi Saura, the cashier lord of the biennium, is heading the registration drive for the knights who will take part in Sant Joan’s qualcada. He is traveling the rural roads of the municipality, stopping at about fifty spots to invite masters, their sons, and messengers to join the white‑and‑black row.

The Team Behind the Scenes

Accompanying Ignasi are:

  • Cristòfol Moll Taltavull, farmer cashier from Corniola
  • Miquel Torres Marques, farmer cashier from Son Usina, who this year handles the be‑placement
  • Sebastià Salort and Juanlu Gelabert, the two fabiolers

Together they visit estates, talk to locals, and hand out sign‑up sheets.

First Sign‑Up: Toni Pons

One of the earliest registrants was Toni Pons from Tot Lluch, a veteran knight known for his experience. He will be the oldest gentleman in the first batch and will ride on Sant Joan’s Saturday, positioned right in front of the cashier and his chaplain, Joan Camps, at the end of the procession.

How the Route Works

The registration tour started yesterday morning and will continue for a few days. On Saturday the team will finish in Son Usina, the base of the midday farmer’s cashier. Anyone who missed the earlier stops—retired farmers, people working in remote areas, or those who couldn’t sign up for other reasons—can still register there.

Rules for Participation

To keep the event smooth, the Municipal Board of Sant Joan set limits based on last year’s agreement:

  • Maximum of 80 knights on the 24th (tomorrow)
  • Maximum of 130 knights for both evenings

These caps help the parade move quickly, avoid long delays, and ensure the fabioler and the Jocs des Pla can start on time in the evening.

What Happens Next

After the registration period ends, the knights will prepare their costumes and horses for the qualcada. The procession will wind through the town, showcasing the traditional white‑and‑black attire, and culminate in the festive celebrations of Sant Joan.

Conclusion

The registration drive led by Ignasi Saura and his team is already underway, welcoming experienced riders like Toni Pons and opening the door for anyone interested in joining the Sant Joan knight parade. With clear limits on numbers and a well‑planned route, the organizers aim for a lively, timely celebration that honors local tradition while keeping things fun and accessible for all participants.
