What Happened at the ILCA 4 Federation Cup?

Event Basics

The ILCA 4 Federation Cup took place over three days—Friday to Sunday—in the waters of Can Pastilla, Mallorca. Organized by the San Antonio de la Playa Maritime Club, the competition featured nine races that tested the skills of young sailors from across the Balearic Islands.

Sailors from Club Náutico Sant Antoni (CNSA) and Club Náutico de Ibiza faced off against some of the region’s top ILCA 4 specialists. The event also ran in parallel with the ILCA 7 Balearic Championship, giving participants a chance to see different boat classes in action.

Paula Pina’s Strong Showing

Paula Pina stood out for CNSA, grabbing second place in the U‑16 division and finishing fifth overall. Her consistent performance kept her in a qualifying spot for the Balearic team that will aim for the 2027 national championships.

Teammates Who Shined

María Torres secured fourth in the U‑18 category, while Candela Martín took fifth in U‑16. Both results also keep them on track for future team selection.

Effort Despite Challenges

Sofía Marí Mayans competed while dealing with physical discomfort and still placed 22nd overall. Leo Gonzato finished 29th, gaining valuable experience despite the tough conditions.

Parallel ILCA 7 Result

Jaume Llorens raced in the ILCA 7 Balearic Championship and earned a respectable eighth place, showing versatility across boat types.

Club Náutico de Ibiza’s Performance

Top Female Finisher

Alejandra Lloyd led the Ibiza contingent, finishing 12th among women. She highlighted her day with a brilliant fourth‑place finish in race six.

Men’s Category

Romeo Pomo placed 24th overall, with his best individual result coming in race three (15th).

Carlota Mediero missed the first day due to illness but fought back to finish 17th overall, capping the event with a strong third place in the final race.

Julen Silvera fell ill during the competition, managing only the first day’s races and ending in 40th position.
