Mallorca Heatwave Continues

What to Expect on Tuesday, 14 July

The heat shows no sign of letting up. Forecasters say Tuesday will be very similar to Monday, with partly cloudy or clear skies, some morning mist, and possible fog patches. Airborne dust from North Africa will also be present.

Sky Conditions

Partly cloudy or clear skies dominate, with mist and occasional fog in the early hours. Dust particles will be visible in the air.

Temperatures

Nighttime Heat

Night will stay tropical. Minimum temperatures are expected to stay above 20 °C across most of the island, and in spots like Banyalbufar, Palma Portopí, and the Capdepera Lighthouse they stayed above 26 °C on Sunday night.

Daytime Highs

Maximum temperatures could climb to 39 °C in the interior of Mallorca. In the south, east, north, and north‑east, highs will be around 36 °C.

Alert Levels

The Aemet meteorological office has issued an orange heat alert for the interior areas where 39 °C is possible. A yellow alert is in place for the southern, eastern, northern, and north‑eastern zones where temperatures will reach 36 °C. The Serra Tramuntana region remains without any heat alert.

Wind and Other Factors

Winds will be light, mainly from the south, with coastal breezes providing slight relief.

Yesterday’s Highlights

Andratx – 34.4 °C
Binissalem – 33.7 °C
Campos – 32.0 °C
Llucmajor – 34.5 °C
Manacor – 34.9 °C
Palma – 32.5 °C
Pollensa – 34.9 °C
Puerto Pollensa – 34.1 °C
Puerto Soller – 30.0 °C

Conclusion

Mallorca is experiencing an unusually long heatwave that began on 5 July. With tropical nights and daytime highs nearing 40 °C in the interior, residents and visitors should stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and follow any local advisories. The only relief comes from the Serra Tramuntana, which remains free of heat alerts, and light southerly winds that may bring brief coastal breezes.
