Ibiza JoySail presents its edition this year with new categories and its sights set on Formentera

Get Ready for the Sixth Edition of Ibiza JoySail Superyacht Regatta

The countdown to the sixth edition of the Ibiza JoySail Superyacht Regatta has begun, with the event set to take place from September 17 to 20, 2026, in the stunning waters of Ibiza and Formentera. The organization, led by STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza, has initiated the invitation process to form a select international fleet that will combine thrilling competition at sea with an extensive social program on land.

Among the key novelties of this year’s edition is the opening to sailboats from 80 feet in length, which will compete in different categories based on their design, equipment, and sporting expectations. This includes the Corinthian category, aimed at non-professional crews, maintaining the cruising configuration and avoiding complex technical requirements. By doing so, the organization seeks to reinforce a more inclusive and accessible approach, a hallmark of the event.

Competitive Racing and Social Activities

The division by class aims to guarantee balanced races between boats of different profiles, from more cruise-oriented sailboats to higher performance units, preserving equality in the water and the friendly tone that characterizes Ibiza JoySail. In addition to the sporting component, the event will feature a calendar of activities for shipowners, crews, family members, and companions, ensuring a well-rounded experience for all participants.

The Perpetual Trophy: A Highlight of the Event

One of the most distinctive elements of the Ibiza JoySail is the Perpetual Trophy, which rewards the sailboat that completes the crossing between Mallorca and Ibiza in the shortest time. This challenge has become a significant milestone of the event, adding a strategic and sporting component highly valued within the international circuit. According to Nacho Postigo, director of Ibiza JoySail, “Ibiza JoySail has grown while maintaining its essence, offering a well-structured regatta with clear categories and an environment where shipowners, crews, and friends can enjoy both sailing and time shared on land.”

The Ibiza JoySail is held under the framework of SYRA and with technical support from ORC, reinforcing its position within the international superyacht calendar. With limited registrations and an already consolidated format, Ibiza JoySail advances towards 2026 with a proposal focused on quality, shared experience, and the enjoyment of sailing in one of the most privileged enclaves in the Mediterranean.
