Palma transforms into an inclusive playground for Sa Rueta 2026, the city’s free family festival organized by Palma City Council. Scheduled for Sunday, 8 February 2026 (11:00–14:00), this edition features 33 free activities across eight city-center locations, blending tradition with accessibility.
A City-Wide Celebration for All Ages
Designed for children aged 3–12, Sa Rueta strategically activates pedestrian zones to minimize congestion. As Palma Council’s Family Events Coordinator notes: “We prioritize spatial distribution so families can explore safely while discovering hidden corners of our historic center.”
Key Activity Zones
Court Square: Creative Kickoff
Families begin at Court Square with:
- Mini disco sessions
- Face-painting stations
- Mask-making workshops
The iconic face-in-hole photo boards debuted here in 2023 and remain a visitor favorite for souvenir photos.
Plaza Mayor: The Circus Hub
Plaza Mayor becomes a gravity-defying stage featuring:
- Aerial silk performances
- Eco-friendly hobbyhorse crafting
- Baby-safe play zone with sensory toys
Local circus troupe Volta’l Món returns after their acclaimed 2025 show, promising new acrobatic feats.
Inclusive Programming Highlights
For the first time, all performances include sign language interpreters – a move praised by Mallorca’s Deaf Association. “Children deserve equal access to magic,” explains interpreter Laura Campos. “We’ve worked with artists since October to ensure seamless integration.”
Accessible Experiences
La Rambla: Storytelling & Laughter
La Rambla hosts:
- Adapted storytelling sessions (11:00, 11:30, 12:00)
- Sign-language clown shows
- Tactile magic workshops for visually impaired children
The 12:30 “El Rei Carnestoltes” parade features vibration backpacks allowing deaf children to feel music.
Sustainability & Local Culture
EMAWA’s recycling workshops at Plaza del Rey Juan Carlos I teach eco-consciousness through games, while the traditional EMT bus exhibit showcases Palma’s transit history since 1900.
Artistic Exploration
At Carrer de la Riera, the “Pintam en terra” street-painting workshop uses washable, vegan-friendly chalks. Last year’s collective mural measured 82m² – organisers aim to break this record in 2026.
Practical Information
With activities ending promptly at 14:00, food trucks near Plaza Mercat serve allergy-friendly options. A real-time crowd map will be available on Palma Council’s app, updated every 15 minutes.
As Mayor Jaime Martínez affirms: “Sa Rueta reflects our commitment to making culture accessible. When our streets laugh, our community grows stronger.”
