Fake Jewellery Bust in Cales de Mallorca

What Happened?

The Guardia Civil started an investigation after finding thousands of fake jewellery items in three souvenir shops in the popular holiday area of Cales de Mallorca. The shops are owned by three people who are now suspected of breaking industrial‑property laws.

The Operation “Trébol”

Officers from the Porto Cristo Tax and Border Patrol carried out a raid named Trébol. They visited the three stores, checked the shelves, and seized more than 5,000 pieces of jewellery that looked like they came from famous brands.

What Was Seized?

• Rings
• Earrings
• Both costume jewellery and finer pieces

All of the items copied designs and logos from well‑known international brands without permission.

How Much Is It Worth?

Experts from Madrid examined the goods. They said that if the items were real, their market value would be over 6 million euros.

During the inspection, officers also filed ten reports for possible administrative violations related to:

• Law 7/2014 – consumer protection in the Balearic Islands
