Overview of the Event

The 43rd Urban Mile Isla de Ibiza 2026 brought together runners, families, and sports fans for a day of competition and remembrance. Held in the port area of Sant Antoni, the race featured the usual mile distances plus a special five‑kilometer run that honored a beloved local athlete.

What is the Urban Mile?

The Urban Mile is a popular road race that mixes elite and community runners. Each year it includes a short elite mile, a popular mile, and now a dedicated 5 K memorial race. The event takes place on a scenic circuit around the harbor, offering sea views and a festive atmosphere.

Tribute to Paco Quiros Torres

This year the organizers paid an emotional tribute to Paco Quiros Torres, an Ibizan athlete known for his passion for duathlon, triathlon, and long‑distance running. Paco passed away two years ago at the age of 76, but his influence on Pitiuso sports remains strong.

The Memorial 5K

To keep his memory alive, the JASA Club announced that the five‑kilometer race held at the end of the event will now be called the Paco Quirós Torres Memorial 5K. From this edition onward, every participant will run in his honor.

Family Presence and Symbols

Paco’s son Pau and his wife Patri attended the ceremony. They received a small figure of the “Verru,” a symbol of Ibiza’s identity, from Pep Ribas, with Sant Antoni’s sports councilor Daniel Sánchez looking on. The trophies and medals for the day also bore Paco’s name, making the tribute visible throughout the competition.

Paco’s Sporting Legacy

Paco dedicated much of his life to sports, especially:

  • Popular road races
  • Long‑distance events
  • Combined disciplines such as duathlon, triathlon, and quadriathlon

His friendly attitude and perseverance left a deep mark on teammates and competitors alike. Many who raced with him remember his encouragement and love for the sport.
