Winter Jackets at the Door, Sangria Feeling in the Hall: The New Mallorca Musical “Malle Olé!” Celebrates World Premiere in Duisburg
The new Mallorca musical “Malle Olé!” has premiered in Duisburg, bringing a taste of summer to the winter season. The production features a fictional plot about an endangered beer bar in Mallorca, with relevant songs like “Mama Laudaaa” (Almklausi) and “Layla” (DJ Robin and Apron) inserted into the story. The musical is a comedy with a love story, telling the tale of an ex-couple who travel to Mallorca with their cliques and heartache.
The story revolves around the “protz millionaire” Viktor, who has a perfidious plan to get rid of the party tourists on the island so that he can build wellness temples. To achieve this, he cuts off the flow of alcohol to the party hotspot “Bierpark”, which is considered the greatest possible breach of taboo in the Malle universe. The musical is basically a romantic comedy with a fairly high density of gags, with Ballermann’s well-known songs from party hotspots perfectly integrated into the story.
A Romantic Comedy on the Ballermann with a High Density of Gags
The musical features a range of party hits, including “Mama Laudaaa” and “Layla”, as well as some newly written songs. The preparations for the piece were quite unconventional, with rehearsals taking place in empty rooms in a shopping center in downtown Duisburg. The author revealed in an interview that the actual local theater was still occupied at times, so the cast had to get creative with their rehearsal space. The result is a production that is full of energy and fun, with a “Mallorca-feeling” that is hard to resist.
At the premiere, many spectators didn’t stay on their seats for long, with people dancing standing up to the music. A number of more or less well-known celebrities from the party hit scene came to the performance as guests, including reality TV stars Jürgen Milski and Micaela Schäfer. Schäfer told the German Press Agency that she thinks it’s about time that Ballermann got a musical, and that she’s glad it’s taking place in January, when everyone is not on the ball. Party Feeling in the Theater
The musical is set to continue with a number of performances in the coming weeks, with after-show parties planned for spectators. Singer Lorenz Büffel, also known as “Johnny Däpp”, has been engaged as a brand ambassador and has called the musical a “Disneyland for drunks” – a compliment that reflects the production’s fun and energetic vibe. With its unique blend of music, comedy, and romance, “Malle Olé!” is set to bring a taste of Mallorca to the winter season. For more information, visit Here
