A Musical Night by the Sea
On a dark Wednesday last week, Binisafúller beach turned into an open‑air concert hall. The waves provided a natural backdrop as soprano Maria Camps sang “Sa nuvia d’Algendar” accompanied by the Intimate Quartet—Pere Arguimbau, Lluís Gener and Guiem Pons. Their performance was the second show of the “Menorquinament” series, following a debut in Alaior and paving the way for a future album.
What’s on the Sidewalk Culture Schedule?
The beach concert kicked off the city’s new “sidewalk culture” program, which brings music and performing arts to residential areas along Sant Lluís’ coast. Seven Wednesday events will run until August 12, each featuring local Menorcan talent.
- July 8: Brothers Joan Carles and Annabel Villalonga with Àngel Gelabert present “A romandre,” a seafaring‑music concert.
- July 15: Drummer and composer Edi Saborit brings a funk‑jazz‑groove fusion to Biniancolla.
- July 22: Harpists Elena Armenteros and Isabel Domínguez play in Binissafúller for an elegant, evocative journey.
- July 29: Luis Souto croons Sinatra classics in Alcaufar.
- August 5: The Ciutadella group Juice and soups perform at s’Algar.
- August 12: A dance showcase with three different styles takes over Racó de Paupa.
Classical Tunes in Pla de sa Creu
Besides the seaside shows, two classical concerts are set for Pla de sa Creu:
- July 13: Pianist Kiev Portella plays works by Chopin.
- August 10: The Harmonic Gesture group presents “PlayBach.”
