ME_MMIX Festival 2026: A Bold Mix of Music, Art, and Innovation

What Is ME_MMIX?

ME_MMIX is an annual festival that celebrates experimental, singular, and avant‑garde music and arts. This year’s edition promises to be the most ambitious yet, pushing the boundaries of contemporary sound and visual expression.

When and Where?

The festival runs from November 12 to November 22, 2026. Events will take place in various venues across Palma, including Can Campaner, Teatre Principal, Es Baluard, and other surprise locations.

Headlining Acts

Opening Night – Irvine Arditti

The festival kicks off with a concert by British violinist Irvine Arditti, founder of the Arditti Quartet and a leading figure in contemporary string music.

November 13 – Ensemble Phace

The Austrian group Phace will present a cinema‑concert titled “The City without Jews,” featuring music by Olga Neuwirth under the musical direction of Nacho de Paz.

Niño de Elche & Héctor Cavallaro

One of the main highlights is the Entre Feldman project by Niño de Elche and Héctor Cavallaro, designed to challenge the audience’s sense of identity and memory through avant‑garde sound.

Spotlight on Electronic Music

This year places a stronger focus on electronic sounds:

  • Franck Vigroux – known for blending electroacoustic textures with industrial noise and modern composition (performing November 19).
  • Four additional electronic‑music sessions will showcase emerging and established creators.

Interdisciplinary Collaborations

Group Enigma & Petrolio Rave

Based on Pier Paolo Pasolini’s novel Petrolio, Group Enigma will stage a show that ends with a Pasolinian rave featuring Hor‑G and dancer/choreographer Alba Vinton, hosted at Es Baluard.

Joan Miquel Oliver + Joana Gomila + Laia Vallès

These three artists will join forces in a special collaboration project developed with the Suralita creation center.

Pre‑Festival Activities & Partnerships

Red Carpet Residency

ME_MMIX has teamed up with Red Carpet, an artistic residency and recording studio in Lloret de Vistalegre. The first joint event on August 20 will be a musical and sensorial concert‑experience that includes a wine tasting.

RESIS Festival Meeting

Artistic director Mateu Malondra recently participated in the RESIS Festival in A Coruña, where composers, filmmakers, musicians, and cultural managers discussed ways to bring contemporary music into broader social contexts.
